I Rode In The Wienermobile
What’s 27 feet long, 11 feet high, and weighs just over 7 tons? The Oscar Mayer Wienermobile! And I got to ride in it. Ashley and Lizzie, official Oscar Mayer Hotdoggers, drove the Wienermobile to the offices of The JOY FM recently for a promotional visit.
We took it for a little spin around Tyrone, GA (where the offices are located) and it was like being Santa Clause in the Macy’s Thanksgiving parade in New York City. Everyone we passed waved, pointed and/or took out their cell phones to catch a photo or video of the Wienermobile.
The Hotdoggers were wonderfully accommodating, though they do tend to use quite a few hot dog related puns. They sign all of their emails, “with relish.” There have been fewer Hotdoggers than there have been people to go into outer space!
The Wienermobile is celebrating it’s 80th birthday this year. I think the first one must have been horse-drawn. Ashley and Lizzie left us a sack full of Wiener Whistles and a plush Wienie Beanie. Find out more about the Wienermobile here.
