Giving Thanks

Every good thing given and every perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of lights, with whom there is no variation or shifting shadow. James 1:17

pilgrims 1st t-givingThe pilgrims didn’t invent Thanksgiving, though we often refer to their feast of November 1621 as the first Thanksgiving. It was the first Thanksgiving in the New World, at least the first by the Europeans to whom North America was new. And though we didn’t invent it, we Americans have certainly perfected it, if any such day can be perfected.

No matter. We have much for which to be thankful. And as people of faith we realize to whom those thanks are due.

Let us come before His presence with thanksgiving. Let us shout joyfully to Him with psalms. Psalms 95:2

Enter His gates with thanksgiving and His courts with praise. Give thanks to Him, bless His name. For the Lord is good; His lovingkindness is everlasting and His faithfulness to all generations. Psalms 100:4-5

Happy Thanksgiving. May your day be blessed and may you be surrounded by people you love and who love you in return.
