Rob Langer’s Butter Java

I love coffee, and I’m rather fond of butter. But I’ve never, on purpose anyway, mixed the two. Rob Langer, my JOY FM co-worker, talked me and another JOY FM staffer, Benji Shepherd, into trying a new coffee fad with him; butter in coffee.

Before you try this at home, it (supposedly) only works well, giving you all of the alleged benefits, if you use butter made from grass-fed cows. Rob managed to find this kind of butter, Kerry Gold, imported from Ireland. We brewed up a fresh pot of coffee, sliced off about a tablespoon of Kerry Gold each and stirred it into our coffee. Then we tried it in the studio for a bit Rob shared earlier today (Saturday 01/17/15). We captured it all on video.

The verdict? Rob Langer’s Butter Java is creamy, smooth and rich. Not at all greasy. I may not drink my coffee this way often, but I will try to remember the recipe for some future special occasion.
