There’s a new selfie craze sweeping the Internet; the donut selfie. No, it doesn’t have to involve an actual donut (but I guess it could). The term “donut” here refers to the movement of the camera, circling the subject’s head and appearing to start on one side of the head and end on the other. And then, if you string two or more of the video selfies together, it (if you do it properly) gives the illusion of the camera passing through your head!
In putting together my first attempt at a donut selfie I needed an image to include in this blog post. What better image, I reasoned, than a picture of me taking a picture of me? And that’s how I inadvertently invented (to the best of my knowledge) a brand new type of selfie, the selfie-selfie! A picture taken by a person while they’re taking a picture of themselves with another device!
So here’s my first donut selfie. I’ve also submitted it to donutselfie.com, but I’m not sure if they’ll use it.
